Karol Bagh locality guide

Where Karol Bagh is and how it is laid out

Karol Bagh is a neighbourhood in the Central District of Delhi. It mixes homes and commerce and is known for shopping streets such as Ghaffar Market and Ajmal Khan Road. Its PIN code is 110005 and its civic agency is the MCD.

Residential pockets include W.E.A., Beadon Pura, Reghar Pura, Dev Nagar and Bapa Nagar. They sit alongside wholesale markets such as the Tank Road garment market and the Hardhyan Singh Road leather market. In practice, homes and trade often share the same streets. Pusa Road runs along the area, with Karol Bagh to its north and Rajendra Nagar to its south.

The ADiHomes count was 0 live projects on ADiHomes as of October 2026. You can still check the new projects in Karol Bagh page and the flats for sale in Karol Bagh page for updates. Earlier listings are on the pages for The Amaryllis Phase 4, The Amaryllis Phase 2 and The Amaryllis Phase 1. ADiHomes holds no price figures for the area right now, so this guide gives none.

Connectivity

Metro

Karol Bagh station is on the Blue Line and opened on 31 December 2005. Its neighbouring stations are Jhandewalan and Rajendra Place. Route data puts Jhandewalan about 1 km away and Rajendra Place about 1 km away.

From New Delhi station, the metro trip to Karol Bagh is about 4.6 km and 15 minutes, with a change at Rajiv Chowk.

Rail and airport

New Delhi Railway Station is about 3.2 km in a straight line and about 5 km by road. A listing site says Delhi Sarai Rohilla and Delhi Kishanganj are about a kilometre away. Treat that as approximate.

Airport distances vary by source and route. One site gives 20 to 22 km to Indira Gandhi International Airport. A metro route planner gives 24.8 km and about 31 minutes. That trip needs changes at New Delhi and Rajiv Chowk.

Roads

Pusa Road is part of a corridor linking West Delhi to Connaught Place. A 2014 estimate put it at 170,000 vehicles a day. I did not find a reliable source naming an expressway link for Karol Bagh, so I have not listed one. Resident reviews mention jams near Ajmal Khan Road. The metro station itself has no parking.

Schools, hospitals and shopping

Hospital: Sir Ganga Ram Hospital is a 575-bed multi-speciality hospital in Old Rajinder Nagar, near Karol Bagh Metro Station. One directory puts it about 1.4 km from the metro, roughly 7 minutes by car.

Shopping: Ajmal Khan Road is linked with ready-made garments, Bank Street with gold and bridal jewellery, Arya Samaj Road with second-hand books, and Ghaffar Market with imported goods and electronics.

Schools: I could verify only one named school. Faith Academy Senior Secondary School, a Christian minority school, is on John L Dorsey Road. I could not confirm its distance from any given project, or a wider school list. Check admission rules and travel times yourself.

Civic matters to check

Water

The Delhi Jal Board's head office is at Varunalaya Phase II, Jhandewalan, Karol Bagh. Complaints can be made on 1916 or 1800117118.

Supply has been uneven this year. A board order named Karol Bagh among areas getting reduced supply because of problems at Chandrawal water treatment plant. Tankers were sent to Karol Bagh and nearby areas. A revised roster applied from 27 March 2026. I could not confirm today's position, so ask residents of the specific building about supply hours and pressure.

Power

I could not source which power distribution company serves each lane. Ask the seller for a recent electricity bill and check the sanctioned load.

Approvals and enforcement

Enforcement is active. Between 6 September and 10 October, the MCD took demolition action against 1,046 properties across Delhi. In the Karol Bagh zone that meant action against 85 properties and 11 sealings. It also meant 13 dangerous-building demolitions, the most of any zone. The zone is wider than the locality: it covers places such as Punjabi Bagh and Patel Nagar.

The drive followed a building collapse in Satya Niketan that killed seven people. Demolitions were reported in Karol Bagh on 14 October. Sealing has also targeted commercial use of residential premises. That matters if you plan to run a business from a flat.

My searches found no area-specific stalled project or litigation. That does not mean there is none. Search court records and the RERA register for the specific project and promoter.

Infrastructure underway or planned

I found no dated, citable project for Karol Bagh itself, so I list none. Check the Delhi Metro, MCD and DDA websites for current announcements before relying on any claim.

Who it suits and what to check

Karol Bagh suits buyers who want a central, metro-linked address with markets and a major hospital close by. It is less suited to anyone wanting quiet streets or open space. One resident review says parks are small, though this is a single opinion.

  • Ask for the sanctioned building plan, title chain and approvals, and confirm the land use matches residential.
  • Confirm any mortgage or loan on the property, and check for notices or sealing history.
  • Visit at peak hours to judge traffic, parking and noise.
  • Ask neighbours about water and power reliability.
  • Check the building's age and structural condition, given the dangerous-building drive.
