EPE-Yamuna Expressway interchange near Jewar targeted to open by mid-October 2026

What was announced
In early August 2026 the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) said the long-delayed interchange connecting the Eastern Peripheral Expressway (EPE) with the Yamuna Expressway near Jaganpur-Afzalpur was about 75% complete. The authority’s chief executive set a target of finishing work by 30 September and opening it to traffic around 15 October 2026.
- The project has been held up for years by land acquisition, farmer protests and design changes.
- Its cost has risen sharply over the original estimate – reports put it at about Rs 270 crore against an earlier figure of about Rs 75 crore.
- Once open, traffic coming from Haryana (Palwal, Sonipat), western UP (Ghaziabad, Meerut) and Faridabad via the EPE can join the Yamuna Expressway directly instead of looping through Greater Noida.
Reports estimated savings of about 15-20 km and 15-30 minutes for many trips to Noida International Airport. At the time of writing we had not seen confirmation that the interchange had opened on schedule.
What it means for property
The interchange matters most for the YEIDA sectors near the airport and for the Yamuna Expressway’s industrial and logistics clusters, which need easy truck access from the EPE. For residential buyers, it improves the case for living along the expressway and working in Ghaziabad, Faridabad or Haryana’s industrial belt, but it does not shorten the commute to Noida or Delhi.
Connectivity projects like this one rarely move apartment prices on their own. They do, however, help absorption in large plotted and group housing sectors that have struggled with access, such as those around Sectors 18, 20 and 22D.
What to check
- Whether the interchange is actually open and which loops are operational – partial openings are common.
- Your route from the project to the nearest expressway entry; YEIDA sector roads are still incomplete in places.
- Truck traffic patterns: homes right next to freight routes may see heavy vehicle movement.
Other links still in progress
The interchange is one of several connections meant to tie the airport into the region. Others, including the planned rail and rapid-transit links to the airport and wider sector roads within YEIDA, are at various stages of planning and construction. Buyers should treat each one separately and value a property on the connectivity that exists, not on the full list of announced projects. Projects that depend on several pending links for their basic access are the riskiest.
